It’s the most profitable time of the year. Well, normally that is. Even after slashing room rates and offering deals coupling rooms and lift passes, Telluride came out short of the near-full occupancy numbers the town is used to seeing over Christmas.

PIERRE (AP) — A bill allowing South Dakotans to buy and discharge fireworks during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays will not become law.
